The Holy Family Surgery Center (HFSC) was spearheaded in 2003, by Dr. Peter Daly, an orthopedic surgeon from the United States and Reinhart Koehler, Director of Family Services for Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos International. The goal of HFSC is to provide same day surgical procedures for underprivileged patients who otherwise could not afford surgery. Many of these patients struggle to receive medical attention in the few public hospitals due to inadequate access to services and personnel.

The Holy Family Surgery Center is located at Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH) Honduras, or in English, “Our Little Brothers and Sisters Honduras”. The NPH Honduras home called “Rancho Santa Fe”, is located 45 minutes north east of the capital city of Tegucigalpa. The Ranch is a 2,000 acre property that borders a small town named La Venta on the highway towards Talanga at kilometer 36.

HFSC is a 5,000 square foot facility that has two main operating rooms, a septic surgery room and post-op recovery rooms. Currently the Holy Family Surgery Center annually hosts 3 to 4 surgical brigades, each involving over 200 consults and 70 surgeries. Additionally a local Honduras surgeon preforms 5-10 simple surgeries every other week for members of the local community.

The future of the HFSC is wide open. All it would take is a few full-time staff members to turn the center into a fully functioning hospital. With fantastic surgeons, a caring organization, a supportive community in need, and such a wonderful facility, the possibilities are endless.
