NPH Honduras, one of nine homes of NPH International, an organization that provides holistic care for orphaned, abandoned and at-risk children in Honduras. Our organization also strives to serve the communities in which we work. As part of an outreach program, NPH Honduras runs a community clinic where 10,000 patients yearly find quality medical care for a symbolic fee.

In light of the strong need to provide surgeries to the poor of Honduras, NPH, with the help of Dr. Peter Daly and his family, began to develop a surgery center on-site next to the community clinic in 2003. Often patients arrive at the NPH community clinic with a need for surgery. However, the patients either can’t afford the surgery or cannot get the services in the few public hospitals because these hospitals are always overloaded with emergencies, or suffer from lack of supplies or have other shortages which result in lack of services.

NPH Honduras envisions to provide quality surgeries to the poor of Honduras who otherwise would not have access to surgery. Beyond providing surgery to the poor, NPH Honduras aims to establish a permanent link between local surgeons and surgeons from the U.S., in a collaborative effort to work together and learn from each other. First contacts have already been established with the local orthopedic surgeons at Hospital Escuela and the surgeons from the simplified surgery unit at the San Felipe Hospital. NPH hopes that through this link, adequate follow-up of after surgery care will be guaranteed, a weakness of medical and surgical brigades who move in and out without an on-going connection to the patients and local medical services.
